Homage sculpture

Homage, Bronze 2011, 55x33x64cm [edition of 5]
Homage sculpture. 55 x 44 x 64cm By Rubin Marcos and Tash Edwards
‘Homage’ came to life after meeting Rubin
Marcos, a member of the ‘Giger Gang’. He was
introduced to me by Les Barany while I was visiting
the Giger Bar in Switzerland, then again at H.R.
Giger’s home Rubin was working on a 3D project
for H.R. Giger, and I was so impressed with his
work that I asked Rubin and his assistant Tash to
help me bring ‘HOMAGE’ to life.

The skulls
I don’t fully understand the purpose of a sacred or crystal skull. But I can certainly see it as fine art! I also see there is a deeper spiritual reason for a sacred skulls. I’ve personally witnessed people who have had spiritual experiences with the Stonehenge skull, and I’ve had many mystical experiences while creating the skull, so in my experience there is definitely something magical going on. I am happy that my Stonehenge skull participates in the Ghost Dance Sacred Dance Ceremonies, and plays a part in helping revive the lost magic in English spirituality.
My sacred mission to create the skulls began when I was given the Sarson stone from Stonehenge. It was removed from the sacred site at Stonehenge in 1958 while repair work was being carried out on the circle. I didn’t know what to use it for. So I kept it in my studio with some other interesting crystals which I had collected and just admired it. In 1999, while on a vision quest in Canada, I received the vision (idea) to carve the Stonehenge skull. I was then introduced to master quartz carver, Raven Youngman and with his help and guidance, I had the tools that I needed to bring my visions to life. Working with moon cycles and knowledge passed to me by the indigenous craftsmen who had inspired me, the creation of my skulls became my sole mission. It took 6 years to complete the skulls.
